On Sunday, 28th of September, ELIX took part of the 12th Day of Volunteering, which was celebrated on the Saint Paul street in Thisio.
The morning started with a slightly colder breeze with made us search for the sweaters at the back of our closets, but as the day went along, the sun came out and unmannerly melted all the caramels we had put out on the table.
We were happy to get an opportunity to inform the local citizens about our actions and talk to many young people about the importance of volunteering.
We had our old workcampers stop by to chat and once again we all agreed how only a two week workcamp abroad can change your life forever.
It was lovely to see how many people were interested in the upcoming workcamps running through autumn and winter, as well as how many parents were looking for possibilities to broaden their children`s horizons. We had a very charming father come up to us and say his kindergarten- age kids will definitely be taking part in the teenage camps once they turn 14.
The number of people who came to ask about what we do, and the amount of attention we got, was heartwarming. But that’s not all, we also reconnected with the other organizations as there were close to 40 organizations side by side with their stands in Thisio. We got to greet our old friends and make many new ones.
We wish to thank all the volunteers for their valuable assistance at the stand of ELIX and all the people who showed interest in volunteering on this beautiful day of volunteering!
