ELIX had the pleasure of hosting the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Artivism in Action” in Kryoneri, Corinthia, from June 2 to June 8, 2025, with the support and co-funding of the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Programme. A total of 20 young people from four different countries came together to share an unforgettable Erasmus+ experience in an inclusive, open, and dynamic learning environment.
Objectives
The project explored the powerful intersection of art and activism—known as artivism—as a tool to address urgent social issues such as climate change, human rights, and inequality.
The main goals of the exchange were to:
- Empower young people to use art as a medium for social change
- Promote intercultural dialogue and cooperation among youth from diverse backgrounds
- Raise awareness about the potential of artivism as a means to advocate for social justice
Activities
The program featured a vibrant mix of activities designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork, including:
- Workshops: Participants took part in hands-on sessions exploring various art forms (such as crafts, theatre, and digital media), learning how to embed activist messages within their artistic expressions.
- Creative Projects: Through collaborative group work, participants co-created impactful artworks addressing social themes. These were showcased during a public exhibition on the final day of the exchange.
- Group Discussions: Facilitated dialogues encouraged participants to exchange ideas and experiences on key global issues such as climate justice, human rights, and social inequality, drawing connections between personal and geographical perspectives.
Impact and Outcomes
In a world facing complex challenges, young people often lack accessible avenues to express concerns or influence decisions. “Artivism in Action” sought to fill this gap by empowering youth to become active changemakers through creative means. The exchange demonstrated how young people can deliver powerful messages and inspire change through dialogue and diverse artistic expressions, both locally and globally. Key outcomes of the program included:
- Development of practical artivism skills
- Strengthened intercultural understanding
- Increased community engagement
- Greater youth empowerment
Partner Organisations
The success of “Artivism in Action” was made possible thanks to the collaboration of four dedicated partner organizations:
FECE - Bulgaria
ESTYES - Estonia
ACT – Romania
Active Youth Stella - Ukraine
This project is part of ELIX’s ongoing commitment to promoting youth engagement, social responsibility, and intercultural collaboration through meaningful, participatory experiences supported by the Erasmus+ Programme.
