Education and Training

- Type of event: Citizens action

- Dates: 2 - 3 June 2013

- Organisation: DeAmicitia

- Country: Spain

- City: Gargantilla de la Sierra (Madrid-Spain)

The event took part in Gargantilla de la Sierra, near Madrid, Spain, from 2/6/13 to 3/6/13.

There were 27 participants, mostly active members of the association, and a few coming from other organisations working in the similar fields as De Amicitia.

The citizens action was extremely dynamical and practical during both of the full 2 days.

Through numerous non-formal learning activities the participants got to know how to design and lead a perfect voluntary project of which will have benefits not only the participants, but also the local communities in which the project takes place.

The ideal voluntary project should be based on the social inclusion which will result in the transformation of all the participants in the workcamp, by breaking the cultural prejudices and barriers.

Among others the accent was given to the importance of the role of the leader, they are not only responsible for the success of the project, but their important role is to be educators and Inspirators who empower and help the volunteers retain the enthusiasm and the motivation and organise themselves a new project in the communities they come from. Accordingly to this, each project should in the second line have also the impact on the other local communities.

All the participants were encouraged to use their newly acquired knowledge and experience in their future voluntary projects and in their local communities.
