Donkey Caravan's is an arising awareness environmental project run through an International Summer Workcamp every year.
It is basicly a street comedy with deep environmental content done in summer in small towns, traveling through Vias Pecuarias or natural trails, and other forms of citizen participation through street theater.
20 participants are firstly selected using the Alliance network after a skype meeting to check their artistic skills (music, dancing, circus or drama) and environmental awareness. The first days of the workcamp are dedicated to train all participants the content of the comedy and to adapt the script to their special skills. After no more than seven days of trainning volunteers travel to small towns with two donkeys and they perform a comedy and afterwards they create a space to exchange with local inhabitants through various types of workshops. The local people can then share their thoughts of environmentalism, donkeys and the workshops we are doing.They stay in each village we perform in and meet lots of interesting people along the way.
We choose donkeys as an allegory of the old rural world . Moreover, donkeys are well liked animals which can attract everybody, children and adults, with their charming sweetness!
This will be the fourth year of Donkey Caravan's project and the mainly aims will be the same of every years: to entertain, to educate about environmental problems and to make our cultures and the beautiful Sierra Norte place knows. Funding will be done through crowd funding.
Project is cast through different types of Media such as TVE, RNE, El País etc. and therefore it is an effective tool for citizen participation.
