ELIX is pleased to announce the implementation of the Compass Training Course in Athens in September 2024 in collaboration with the Council of Europe - Youth Department, within the framework of the Youth for Democracy program and invites formal and non-formal education teachers, youth worker, social scientists and cultural mediators working with young people to participate in a 5-day training program on human rights and democratic citizenship education in intercultural educational settings.
Aim
The aim of the Compass National Training Course is to familiarize participants with the concepts, goals and methods of Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education (EDC/HRE) through their experiential acquaintance with the educational tools of the Council of Europe, having the Compass educational manual as the main point of reference. Emphasis is placed in the acquisition of skills and competences that will allow participants to systematically promote and support actions oriented towards human rights education and democratic participation in intercultural educational environments, in the context of an inclusive educational culture.
Participants profile
The training program is designed for participants who are:
- Educators in Formal and Non-Formal education
- Youth workers
- Social scientists, social workers
- Cultural mediators with an emphasis on those who work in multicultural and multilingual educational environments and/or support students who experience social and educational exclusion.
All participants should also:
- be able to work in English or Greek,
- have experience in education or youth work,
- be supported by a youth or educational organization or institution within which they can act as multipliers of HRE,
- be motivated to develop their competences in Human Rights Education and to share their experiences with other participants,
- be interested in implementing EDC/HRE programs, actions and activities within their respective contexts,
- be able and committed to act as multipliers in HRE as a result of the course,
- be committed to participate in the full duration of the course, which will take place in person.
Dates: Monday 2/9/2024 - Friday 6/9/2024
Duration: 40 hours (9:00 – 17:00)

Cost: Participation is free of charge. Due to limited funding this specific training can not cover travel expenses or accomodation costs.
