Μέσω της ΕΛΙΞ μπορείς τώρα να δηλώσεις συμμετοχή για ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον πρόγραμμα του ESC με το όνομα "PLAY", στην παραθάλασσια πόλη της Klaipeda, στη Δυτική Λιθουανία, που οργανώνει η τοπική οργάνωση Miško mokykla! Οι δραστηριότητες λαμβάνουν στο "ΣΧΟΛΕΙΟ ΣΤΟ ΔΑΣΟΣ", σε μια πανέμορφη περιοχή που απέχει 500 μέτρα από την παραλία της Βαλτικής Θάλασσα. Στα συν, το ότι σας περιμένει ένα ποδήλατο, αλλά και η δωρεάν τοπική συγκοινωνία με τη συχνότητα εικοσαλέπτου!
Οι στόχοι του έργου συνοψίζονται στα εξής:
- Ανάπτυξη διαπολιτισμικής μάθησης μέσω των δραστηριοτήτων του PLAY
- Συλλογή "Αποσκευών του PLAY" με απώτερο σκοπό τη δημιουργία ενός βιβλίου αναμνήσεων
- Δημιουργία μη τυπικών δυνατοτήτων μάθησης για τους εθελοντές, μέσω της βοήθειας τους στις καθημερινές εργασίες
- Προώθηση της ιδέας της μάθησης σε εξωτερικούς χώρους και της βιωσιμότητας της φύσης
Αναζητούμε δύο (2) εθελοντές, ηλικίας 18 ετών έως 30, με όρεξη και μεράκι για δημιουργική δουλειά μέσα στο σχολείο!

Volunteering project in Lithuania, Klaipėda – Forest school. PLAY!
Who we are:
We are on outdoor kindergarten and primary school working outdoors all year long. We work with about 70 children of the age from 3 to 7 years old divided into 5 smaller groups, 40 primary school children in three clases, and employ 25 most crazy teachers of Klaipeda.
We are the beginners of outdoor education in Lithuania with the school established 8 years ago. Forest school motto is “there’s no bad weather, only bad clothing”
We are a strong community with exceptional understanding of education and growth:
- We believe that physical and emotional health is the core of education. Nature offers it all – fresh air, physical activities, decreased level of stress- and we use it for our work with
children as well as our personal lifestyles; - We believe that free play and trust is the essence to create the secure, but challenging learning environment, where academics are integrated into the child led activities;
- We believe that nature gives more opportunities than indoors in learning the most important things in the early years: highest human values like love, respect, sense of community; critical thinking and problem solving; creative and out-of –box thinking;
- We believe that strong local and international community plays a core role in education, through seeking the same goals in the environment of the child;
- We believe that creativity and critical thinking are the skills for the future.
Nature and experience all around:
Forest school is in the nature setting – we are in the center of the third biggest city of Lithuania, Klaipeda, at the same time we are far away from the busy urban life.
School is based in Giruliai, about 500m from the beach of the Baltic sea. The area is surrounded by beautiful forest and nature.
You will be encouraged to be active hiker, cyclist, swimmer, not only by the environment, but also by the constant staff activities and events. We also have a bike waiting for you.
You will also be accommodated in the beautiful little flat in the area of a school, able to enjoy the seaside, the forest and the nature all year long. Public bus to the city is also available from the site, every 20 minutes.
Project objectives and activities:
- to develop the intercultural learning in the Forest School, through the PLAY based activities;
- to collect the “PLAY LUGGAGE” from the playing activities and games in the school and kindergarten and from personal input (the dream is to publish a book on PLAY!)
- to create the informal learning possibilities for volunteers through their assistance in daily routines;
- to promote the ideas of outdoor learning, sustainable life in nature, healthy lifestyle within Europe through international volunteers and create opportunities for their future development in these fields;
- to implement personal initiatives in PLAY and PLAY based learning.
If you are Forest school volunteer, you will learn:
- Alphabet of how to deal with children in nature (starting from hygiene, ending with communication with parents about children development and constant PLAYING);
- How to develop the outdoor facilities needed for children free play, educational sessions, implementation of daily routines, nature projects (for example, gardening, cleaning up the forest, and other depending on the topics and seasons);
- How to plan and implement the activities of the school;
- How to arrange yourself and all your best initiatives into well planned playful educational sessions;
- To use the ropes, dens, tents, fire and cooking, tools, wood, other materials for educational matters outdoors;
- To collect and describe the games, take pictures and analyze what competences are developed through the particular games.
If you are the volunteer who wants to get it all, you will also learn:
- How to manage the private school company documentation;
- How to plan and implement staff training and other personnel management activities;
- How to communicate with parents, create the long-lasting relationships and strong community;
- How to present yourself in the private school market and communicate the right message to your future clients;
- How to create the strategy of the school and implement it.
And the most important – you will become the member of Forest school family! Once you volunteer here, some part of us will stay with you forever – please have some free space in your heart for the children and us.
Please note that you will be provided by extra finances needed for personal initiative projects, bicycle on request, ferry pass and our daily help to live in Lithuania. Food will be provided in school on workdays, and you will also have pocket money for your personal needs.
Volunteers profile
We expect that our new family member, who will be any age from 18 to 30, share the values and philosophy of our school that is described above, respect the rules of the school and be (or willing to become) a PLAYFUL character.
The need is to be interested in outdoor education, love the children and to be motivated to get more of that!
If you want to receive the most benefits from your volunteering experience, please be able to survive all 4 seasons, which happen in Lithuania and vary from +30, to -20 degrees of Celsius. We need to tell you, that Lithuania is a bit of the miracle, where seasons happen independently of the month: we can have +10 in December and the same in July.
If you are the one who enjoys play independently of the age, active and healthy life-style, you can be sure to get most of it!
English and/or Russian will also benefit you lots in communication with staff, mentor, tutor and children. However, body language is also accepted.
