H ΕΛΙΞ σε συνεργασία με την μη κυβερνητική οργάνωση Etudes et Chantiers της Γαλλίας σας προτείνει δύο πρόγραμμα EVS μεσαίας διάρκειας αυτό το καλοκαίρι.

Το πρώτο για την διατήρηση της πολιτιστική κληρονομιάς, διάρκειας 3 μηνών από 28/6 έως 30/09/16.

Το δεύτερο περιβαλλοντικό, διάρκειας 4,5 μηνών από 01/06 έως 18/10/16.

Η οργάνωση φιλοξενίας

Etudes et Chantiers is a non-profit organization which develops environmental and heritage conservation projects, through different actions for different target groups: inclusion work, training work, voluntary work and other actions of sustainable development in rural areas.

 

1. EVS διατήρηση της πολιτιστική κληρονομιάς με τίτλο, “Volunteers for Breton heritage conservation”. (ΕΚΛΕΙΣΕ)

The volunteers will have the chance to work in two provinces Ille -et-Vilaine and Finistère. The volunteers will travel and spend time outside their lodging location for several weeks in workcamps. That will be the opportunity to discover local culture and people.

 

In this voluntary project you will be part of a group of 7 European and 2 French volunteers that will take part in the conservation of heritage sites.

 

Aim of the project:
Etudes et Chantiers organization aims to raise peoples awareness about our heritage which also supports social connections. Built heritage is one of our most important cultural assets. It represents the historical layers of our built environment in places made of brick, plaster, wood, metal and stone. Built heritage includes cathedrals and cemeteries, factories and fences, houses and hotels, museums and markets. It includes areas, precincts and streetscapes. It is the physical evidence of our cultural development. Built heritage within our urban and regional neighborhoods is a key to the understanding of our shared history.


Built Heritage also reflects the cultural diversity of our European communities. The main goal of this conservation project is to make the “heritage” topic more accessible to young people in order to encourage the participation of everyone to its conservation.

 

The team of volunteers will take part in several kind of activities :
1. Technical activities: Conservation work of built heritage on different spots by using different techniques.
The activities will be supervised by the technical leaders of the organization.

 

2. Educational activities: Raising awareness on built heritage conservation and local heritage (with schools, local population, visitors …), link with the local actors. Enhancement of European culture and exchanges.

 

Volunteers profile
The team: 2 French volunteers and 7 European volunteers
Period: June 28th – September 30th 2016

 

Being a volunteer requires the appropriate profile, commitment, sense of responsibility, open minded and availability for the whole duration of the project. Willing to live a collective experience.

 

The volunteers will have to deal with a mixed group of different nationalities and create relationships with local communities.
A first experience in volunteering would be a plus as well as knowledge in the conservation of heritage.
Interest for French language and culture.
Physical ability and interest to work outside

 

Activities
The team of volunteers will be supervised by a professional technical leader on all working sites which involve specific skills. The volunteers will work from Monday to Friday, around 30 hours a week. The volunteers will have days off between the activities.

 

A. Built heritage conservation workcamps
1. Camaret-sur-Mer, Finistère
Date : July – 3 weeks
Accommodation: Municipal campsite of Camaret (tents)
Activities : Rehabilitation of a part of the old wash-houses in Camaret (cleaning, masonry…)

 

2. Châteaugiron, Ille-et-Vilaine  
Date : August – 3 weeks
Accomodation: Municipal campsite of Châteaugiron (tents)
Activities : Repointing of an old wall close to the castle of Châteaugiron. Masonry work using lime stone.

 

3. Saint-Thégonnec, Finistère  
Date : September – 3 weeks
Accomodation: In a house belonging to the municipality. Kitchen and bathroom inside the house.
Activities : we are defining the work with our partner

 

B. Educational acitvities
- Develop relationship with local population by working on various technical supports.
- Organise multicultural events
- Share the European voluntary experience with schools, local population, young people etc…
- As part of the cultural exchange, volunteers will be able to take part in the cultural programs of local community.

 

Hosting arrangements
During the workcamps the accommodation will be as mentioned above. The other times when the volunteers won’t be at the worksites they will be hosted in the Youth residence in the city of Rennes, capital of the Region of Brittany in individual rooms.

Food: provided by the organisation/ allowance will be given to the volunteer when not provided

EVS pocket money: 115€/month
A car will be provided for work trip and also for leisure activities on weekends and holidays.

2. Περιβαλλοντικό EVS με τίτλο “European volunteers for the environmental conservation” στο Paipmont

In this voluntary project you will be part of a group of 3 European and 3 French volunteers that will help create the scientific cultural centre of Chatenay Mill.

 

Aim of the project:
The volunteers will:
- Assist in the development, preservation and maintenance of spaces in the area of the Chatenay Mill and around the Chatenay pond.
- Participate to the creation of new facilities around the Chateany pound, such as a wooden bridge.
- Promote environmental actions on the territory (in particular developing biodiversity measurement with participatory sciences protocols).
- Develop relationship between the territory and its inhabitants, in order to open the Biological Station to more visitors.

 

History of the project:
Over the last 4 years, volunteers have done a great job to facilitate and make secure the access of the Biological Station and the Mill. In 2011, an international workcamp was organized to build a footbridge over a stream to make the Mill accessible to the visitors and allow the implementation of awareness-raising activities to the environment and to the science on the territory. In 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, 4 teams of European volunteers have contributed to this project, building a greenery amphitheater in front of the Châtenay Mill and have done other conservation works.

 

Duration: 01/06 – 18/10/2016 (4,5 months)

 

Volunteers Profile:
Motivated and commited young people, willing to live and work within an international people in a rural area.
A previous volunteering experience in its own country is a plus.
Knowledge/interest on environmental issues is a plus.
Interest for French language and culture.
Physical ability and interest to work outside

 

Activities:
The team of volunteers will be supervised by a professional for all the activities when specific competences are needed
The Team will work from Monday to Friday, 35 hours a week.

 

1. Work to promote historical and natural heritage and the living environment of the station
Around the Chatenay Mill and in the surrounding area of the Station
- Conduct a differentiated/multi-level management plan on the station green spaces
- Restoration environment work in the small valley
- Cleaning the surroundings of the Chatenay Mill and secure the site, (logging, brushing, maintenance of the wet zone /drainage and stabilization of the yard, small stonework…)
- Improve the river downstream of the small valley
Around the pond
- Maintenance of the walking trail around the Chatenay pond, completion of a marking system

 

2. Teaching activities
- Joint work with the researchers at the station: observation work of the environment
- Design and making of educational panels to be positioned along the walking path around the Chatenay pond
- Maintenance of the Land-Art works and development of new works (around the Chatenay pond)
- Collection of plant taxa / animals around the Station (eg. grasses, insects displays, digital versions, etc.)
- Develop educational tools to ensure dissemination of the research work conducted at the station
- Promote environmental awareness and European citizenship i with the territory stakeholders (schools, local inhabitants, visitors, etc.)
- Prepare and participate Science Festival of Rennes Mιtropole

 

3. Contribution to scientific actions
- Support to analysis of naturalist inventories made by teams in 2012, 2013 and 2014: terrestrial invertebrates, butterflies, earthworms, wild bees (according to the Agricultural Biodiversity Observatory protocols): data processing, enhancement, communication of results

 

4. Participating in local initiatives
- Installation of fences allowing for the pastoral management of wet meadows and the experimentation by students and researchers working at the Station
- Maintenance of the aromatic spiral

Hosting arrangements
Hosting will be provided by the Biological Station of Paimpont with a shared kitchen. Volunteers will be hosted in single rooms in the Biological Station of Paimpont.
Food allowance : 200€/month
EVS pocket money: 115€/month

A car will be available to the team for its travels within the project, but also for its leisure activities.
