Η ΕΛΙΞ σε συνεργασία με την οργάνωση Logo Jugendmanagement στην Αυστρια προτείνει ένα πρόγραμμα EVS για 10 μήνες.

The association JUKUS was founded in 2002 in an area of Graz with a high percentage of immigrants. The youth centre ECHO was founded in 2007. The working field of JUKUS is the intercultural youth work. The target group of JUKUS are youngsters from 14 years upwards. JUKUS’s aim is to analyse the needs of youngsters with migration background and to provide intercultural activities in order make integration possible. JUKUS is mainly working in Graz, it’s activities involve as well youngsters from the outskirts of Graz and persons form other parts of Austria within the network of JUKUS.
Different working fields of JUKUS:
Culture: Turkish-German library, music courses (Saz), events like youth culture festival, concerts, discussions, trainings
Youth: intercultural activities, outdoor and leisure time activities, football contests, trainings of parcour/ freefrunning
Media: Turkish-German newspaper „Yeni Hayat – Neues Leben“
Tasks:
The volunteers will help the youthworkers in the youthcenter to work on different areas. They will be asked to do what he/she likes and the team will re-arrange the tasks according to their skills, interests and motivation. The volunteers will attend the team meetings which take place twice a month. Proposed activities for the EVS volunteers can be: helping for the arrangement of office work, organising various activities, such as: workshops, trainings, seminars, conferences, cultural nights, trips, games, events…, preparing the announcements and informing youngsters about the events, participation in activities and projects, giving consultation to youngsters about their everyday life problems, contribution of topics and additional research for the turkish-german newspaper and library orientated tasks. An example of a day at JUKUS could be: 12:30-15:00 work in the office, preparation of activities, 15:00-18:00: working with youngsters, giving information, consultation, 18:00-20:00 participating in activities with youngsters, playing games. It will also be in benefit of the volunteers on a practical level as they will have the chance to get an insight into and a practical experience in the field of intercultural youthwork not to mention the personal learning effects. The volunteer will help in the daily routine of the youth centre, try to get in contact with the youngsters and support the team to organise different activities for the youngsters who come to the youth centre. The youth centre ECHO is highly frequented by male youngster with a migration background so the work consists a lot in intercultural youth work. The volunteer has the possibility to develop his own project and activities with the youngsters.
Criteria:
Due to the target group in the Youth Center ECHO the volunteer should be over 20 years. The person should be interested especially in sports, music and young culture. These interests are the most important topics in the youth center. But all special interests of the volunteer are welcome because he/she is asked for a small or bigger project on his/her own. . It is very important that the volunteer is open-minded, outgoing, patient, friendly and communicative in the work with youngsters.
