When I started to think about what I would like to do, whom I would like to help or be useful and where exactly, I didn’t choose Greece because I knew the country before, oh no! On the contrary! I wanted to discover something totally new!

Before my EVS I was working in the French and German mobility field and with Greece and in ELIX I wanted to discover the mobility in a larger way.

During summer 2018, Achar participated in an ELIX workcamp, as a European Voluntary Service (EVS) volunteer through the project "V.I.P. - Volunteering is Possible" with the financial support of the Erasmus+ Programme funded by the European Commission.

“My name is Achar and I took part in a volunteer workcamp in Greece in July 2018 with ELIX.

ELIX – Conservation Volunteers Greece launches a new project titled “V.I.P. – Volunteering is Possible” that has been approved for funding and will be financially supported by the Erasmus+ programme.

This project aims to reach young people with fewer opportunities who are often excluded from mobility programmes and to provide them with the opportunity to equally participate.

ELIX participates in a 3-year project from January 2018 to December 2020, titled “#IVS4Peace, Inclusive Voluntary Service 4 Peace” that has been approved for funding by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission.

This project has been applied and will be coordinated by the Coordinating Committee of the International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) and will be implemented with the participation of the two international networks such as the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations (Alliance) and the Youth of European Nationalities (YEN) as well as national organisations such as ELIX - Conservation Volunteers (Greece), Egyesek Youth Organization (Hungary), Solidarités Jeunesses (France), and Compagnons Bâtisseurs - CBB (Belgium).

In 2017, ELIX is celebrating 30 years of action. All these years, ELIX has played an active role in the field of volunteering on national and international level. With credibility and responsibility, ELIX, is giving the chance to an always increasing number of young people to participate in voluntary projects abroad and while receiving foreign volunteers to offer their voluntary service in Greece.

This year, ELIX has the honor to host the 35th Annual General Assembly of the ALLIANCE of European Voluntary Service Organisations, that will be held in Athens from the 1st to the 3rd of November 2017.

ELIX successfully implemented the project “Peace Action Week - Making Change Happen” as part of the international Campaign that is coordinated by CCIVS with the title “Raising Voice – Raising Peace”, with the financial support of the Erasmus+ programme.

From 21st to 26th of February 2017, ELIX will be hosting the Induction seminar in Athens as the first step within the Long Term Training Course (LTTC) of our network ALLIANCE of European Voluntary Service Organisations.

The Induction Seminar aims at providing young trainees with information and resources on how to design IVS projects as structured methodological and pedagogical tools.

ELIX in cooperation with Finn Church Aid (FCA) and Teachers without Borders, and funded by UNICEF and Church of Sweden, has started the implementation of the educational programme addressed to refugee children aged 3-17, who are staying in the regions of Attica and Central Macedonia. The programme will last until June 2017.

The aim is to provide quality, non-formal education, to enhance psychosocial well-being and positive integration. Read the Press Release.

In the framework of the international Campaign that is coordinated by CCIVS with the title “Raising Voice – Raising Peace”, ELIX is organizing a Peace Action Week on the rights of Migrants & Refugees and the right to citizenship.

This Peace Action Week represents for us an extraordinary opportunity and a little, but important step to concretely start the change we want to see in nowadays’ society.

ELIX -Conservation Volunteers Greece is a non-governmental not-for-profit organization promoting, since 1987, voluntary service and education. ELIX main goal is the personal development of individuals as citizens of the world, through active participation. Environmental protection, cultural heritage conservation, culture promotion and social service are the main thematic fields of voluntary projects.

In the framework of the project "Lessons of Solidarity", ELIX cooperated with ELEPAP. In 2015 ELIX and ELEPAP decided to continue the cooperation in the framework of the European Voluntary Service Programme (EVS).

ELIX is organising a youth exchange programme “Sports to YOUth”, that will be held in Ancient Olympia from the 5th until the 13th of May 2015.

30 participants from 5 organisations from 5 different countries will meet in Olympia for this activity: 
Indigenous people (ESTONIA), De Amicitia (SPAIN), Genclik Turizmi Dernegi (TURKEY) and YAP - Youth Action for Peace (ITALY). ELIX Conservation Volunteers Greece (GREECE) is the organisers.

Somewhere between sleeping and being awake I arrived in Athens airport. Actually I was not excited. The reason might be the sleepless but wet night before.

The conference “ec4la European Citizens for Local Action” gathered interested citizens and the partner organizations from twelve European countries in Athens to discuss ways and present tools on promoting active citizenship and European identity through volunteering. The three day conference (22-23-24 of February) was the first event of all partner organizations of the ec4la project financed by the European Union.
