In October 2019, 30 youth workers from 8 different European countries will participate in the Peace Action Week organized by ELIX in Athens, a training course focused on the advocacy actions regarding rights of Migrants & Refugees.

A new partnership of ELIX aspires to support even more the children, refugees and migrants, in Greece and more specifically in Attica.

After a lengthy evaluation process, ELIX was selected by the Refugee Trauma Initiative (RTI) as a partner and we will set up the first Baytna Hub in the open accommodation site in Eleonas offering a safe and creative space for preschoolers, aged 2.5 - 4.5 years old.

We are honoured to announce that our ELIX staff member, Tilemachos Boni, has been elected as member of the Council of Europe Advisory Council on Youth for a 2 years mandate (2020-2021).

A toolkit by the European Commission has included the ELIX Project, "Learning for Integration: Quality Learning and Non-formal Education for Children, Refugees and Migrants in Greece" project as a good practice in the field of Youth Work for Refugee and Migrant Integration.

ELIX’s Director, Mrs Judith Wunderlich-Antoniou, visited Medan, Indonesia, in order to participate in the "Building Bridges" Toolkit Development Workshop.

ELIX coordinates the international project "Building Bridges - Youth Work for Peace and Dialogue", together with the International Falcon Movement - Socialist Educational International (Belgium), which started in October 2018 and will last until October 2020.

Every year ELIX organizes several voluntary work projects (Workcamps) of short, medium and long duration in Greece, aiming to protect the environment, to preserve cultural heritage and to promote social justice and cohesion.

This summer, 4 projects will take place through 10 short term workcamps (2 weeks duration) scattered in Greece:

The two workcamps “Summer in the City” in Mandra aim to support families that encounter difficulties, by providing their children with the opportunity to spend quality summer time at school through creative activities.

The Municipality of Thermo has a network of ancient footpaths spreading in the mountain village of Amvrakia, used widely by locals, tourists as well as hikers. The two workcamps “Sustainable paths” aim at supporting the building of new paths and preserving the environment in order to enhance local sustainability.

ELIX begun the implementation of "The Learning for Integration Project: Quality Learning and Non-Formal Education for Refugee and Migrant Children and Adults in Greece" in March 2019 with the support of UNICEF,International Organization for Migration (IOM) and DG Migration and Home Affairs of EC (DG HOME).

ELIX has the honor to welcome a delegation of Finnish teachers to our Learning Centers in Patision and in Elaionas’ camp, on Tuesday and Wednesday, 5 and 6 February respectively.

With the participation of representatives from 17 international voluntary organizations-members of the network, the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organizations and their working groups has begun.

Mr Lucio Melandri, UNICEF's Refugee and Migration Response Coordinator in Greece, visited yesterday, Thursday 24 January, ELIX's learning centers in Patission and in Eleonas’ camp on the occasion of the World Day of Education 2019, celebrated for the first time internationally.

ELIX hosts the international meeting of committees and working groups of the ALLIANCE of European Voluntary Service Organizations, with the participation of 17 international volunteer organizations-members of the network, from January 24th to 28th.

When: Starting as soon as possible

ELIX, supported by UNICEF and funded by the European Commission (DG ECHO), started in October 2017 the implement of an educational training in Attica for refugee and migrant children, aged 3-17 and their parents.

The aim of this program is to provide non-formal education and homework support to children, refugee and migrants, as well as to their parents, in order to contribute to their smooth integration into the public education system through innovative educational methods.
