Η ΕΛΙΞ αναζητά εκπαιδευτικό προσωπικό για την υλοποίηση εκπαιδευτικού προγράμματος για ανήλικους μετανάστες στην Αθήνα.

Αιτήσεις μπορούν να γίνουν για δύο κατηγορίες θέσεων:
1. ATHEDU-SEN-TEACH (Senior Teacher)
2. ATHEDU-TEACH (Teacher)

Αναλυτικά:
Background
The non-governmental, non-profit organization ELIX Conservation Volunteers Greece has been cultivating voluntary conscience and promoting voluntary service. ELIX’s main target is the contribution in the development of the person and his evolution as citizen of the world through his active participation in public life.

ELIX realizes international actions of voluntary participation with main targets the protection of the environment, the preservation of cultural heritage, the promotion of civilization and social service. In order to realize its actions, the organization cooperates with Local Authority Organizations, Government Bodies, Companies and Institutions.

After several years of experience in non-formal education activities with children from a disadvantaged socioeconomic background, ELIX in cooperation with Finn Church Aid (FCA) and funded by UNICEF will be implementing non-formal education activities and enhance psychosocial well being and positive integration for refugee children aged 3–17 years in Attica and Central Macedonia.

1. ATHEDU-SEN-TEACH (Senior Teacher)

Position: Senior Teacher (1 position)
Code: ATHEDU-SEN-TEACH

Duration: 7 months

Location: Athens

 

Introduction
ELIX is recruiting a Senior Teacher for an Education Project addressed to refugee children aged 3-17 years. The Senior Teacher will be based in Athens and work at the refugee site of Eleonas as well as other urban areas in Athens, where the educational activities of the project will take place.

Purpose
The Senior Teacher will work directly with other teachers throughout the daily operations of the project's Temporary Learning Spaces. S/he will be responsible for enhancing the performance and the development of the teachers through providing mentoring, supervision, counseling and guidance for them.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
- Support teachers in ensuring a smooth completion of learning sessions and provide them with individual and/or group professional support when necessary
- Ensure that all teachers create a positive and trustful atmosphere while interacting with children, encouraging them to express their needs and ensuring their feeling of safety
- Promote, ensure and establish the child as a central actor in the activities
- Ensure supervision of young children during learning sessions and avoidance of harmful exercises
- Get regular feedback from teachers in relation to any problems arising during the sessions and suggesting ways of overcoming them; e.g. in cooperation with the teachers and/or Social Worker, prepare recreational activities for targeted children
- Participate in parents and site meetings
- Be responsible for the student registration process
- Gather attendance records and prepare monthly and quarterly monitoring reports
- Work with the Field Coordinator and the other project team members

 

Qualifications & Key Competencies
- Degree in Education, Pedagogy, Psychology or related field
- Previous Senior Teacher working experience
- Experience in humanitarian work preferably in emergencies; previous working experience with local or international NGOs will be considered as an advantage
- Experience in providing recreational activities to children (drama, play, games, circus, sport, storytelling, drawing/painting, artistic activities, music or dancing) will be considered as an advantage
- Ability to work with refugees in underprivileged settings
- Strong verbal and written Greek and English skills
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Dynamic personality and ability to work under pressure
- Strong initiative and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principle
- Flexible, enthusiastic and willing to learn from others
- Ability to multitask and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines
- Ability to cope with high workload and stress and identify priority activities and assignments, and adjust priorities as required
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
- Commitment and respect of the UNICEF, FCA and ELIX policies
- A certificate of good conduct (no criminal record) will be asked before employment

 

All candidates must have:
1. The Greek nationality or the nationality of an EU member state. If a candidate has the nationality of an EU member state, they should definitely have excellent speaking, reading and writing skills of the Greek language according to the Greek law P.D. 50/2001, article 28 par. 4, and its amendments.
2. Candidates ought to have completed their military obligations or be legally exempted by them (for men).

2. ATHEDU-TEACH (Teacher)

Position: Teacher (several positions)

Duration: 7 months
Employment type: Full-time or Part-time
Location: Athens

Introduction
ELIX is recruiting a number of qualified teachers for an Education Project addressed to refugee children aged 5-17 years. The teachers will be based in Athens and work at the refugee site of Eleonas as well as other urban areas in Athens, where the educational activities of the project will take place.

 

Purpose
Delivery of non-formal education and a range of learning including Greek, English, literacy and numeracy to refugee children in Athens.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
- Implement educational activities (school homework support, Greek language courses etc.)
- Provide the children the opportunity to develop their personality, constantly seeking to enhance their self-motivation and confidence
- Keep record of children' s attendance, update students files and inform parents accordingly
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports
- Prepare supply requests for the education activities (stationery, educational material, toys, etc.)
- Work with the Senior Teacher, the Field Coordinator and the other project team members

Qualifications & key competencies
- Degree in Education, Pedagogy, Psychology or related field
- Relevant experience will be taken into account, especially with refugees and/or migrants
- Good written and spoken knowledge of English (B2)
- Good use of Microsoft Office
- References from previous employers will be taken into account
- Good communication and inter-personal skills and ability to work in a multicultural team
- Ability to work under pressure and take initiative, ability to organize and supervise educational activities, problem solving skills
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
- Commitment and respect of the UNICEF, FCA and ELIX policies

- A certificate of good conduct (no criminal record) will be asked before employment
