SafIng – Building Safe and Inclusive Learning Environments is an educational programme that supports schools in becoming safer, more democratic and more inclusive spaces for all children. The project focuses on the prevention of school violence by empowering the entire educational community, children, teachers and caregivers, through participation, education and collective responsibility.

At the heart of SafIng is the meaningful involvement of children aged 9–12. Through experiential, multilingual and multimodal workshops, children are invited to explore their identities, express themselves, understand their rights, set boundaries and actively co-shape their classroom as a safe space. Learning is based on cooperation, creativity and reflection, valuing diversity and lived experience as resources.
SafIng also supports teachers and school staff through capacity-building workshops on safe and inclusive learning environments, trauma-informed and identity-informed practices, while encouraging dialogue and collaboration within the wider school community. Awareness-raising actions and networking activities strengthen connections between schools, families and local actors.
Implemented by the ELIX educational team directly within schools, SafIng combines non-formal education, children’s rights education and community engagement to foster a school culture grounded in respect, participation and care. The programme aims not only to prevent violence, but to support long-term, positive change in how school communities learn, interact and grow together.
The project “Safing - Building Safe and Inclusive Learning Environments”, implemented by ELIX - Conservation Volunteers Greece, is funded by the European Union, through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) program, under Grant Agreement No. 101138279 / Daphne-Child with Eurochild and Terre des Hommes.
