Our work

With 3 different awareness-raising actions we bid farewell to 2025 and completed the first cycle of Safing!

Each of the 3 participating schools designed and implemented its own action and the participating children created their own awareness-raising materials, according to their unique concerns, interests and experiences as explored and highlighted during the circle’s workshops.

Thus, with the aim of enhancing diversity and strengthening children's participation in actions that concern them, we were led down 3 completely different paths:

Children’s Rights Fair

The participating groups of children at the 35th Primary School of Athens joined forces and together made badges with illustrations of the Rights of the Child, which they then distributed to the school community and their families. Colorful, multilingual, anti-racist badges, badges with designs symbolizing solidarity, friendship and justice, and badges with direct references to articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child were given from one child to another, from children to teachers and the school Principal and were put into the Gift Bag to be distributed throughout the school. The principle of non-discrimination, the safeguarding of the rights of refugee children, the right of minorities to practice their culture and language, freedom of expression and respect for the child's opinion were the most widely drawn upon articles. Along with some badges dedicated to sports clubs and music bands…

Our Wall of Languages

At the 22nd Primary School of Athens, the children participating in Safing, together with their peers from the All-Day School classes, representatives of the Parents and Guardians Association and the educational staff led by the school Principal, redesigned the school courtyard by refreshing the old floor games, creating new ones, decorating a wall with colorful palms and creating a Multilingual Wall with greetings in all the home languages of the school children. 20 languages were imprinted using colorful stencils on the Wall and over 80 brushes (1 brush/person) were used to paint the floor games! Warm thanks to ELIX’ team of employees and volunteers, to the theater expert of the Migrant Integration Center of the City of Athens, Mrs. Tiga, and to the network of international schools Futuraskolan from Sweden who actively and enthusiastically supported this activity!

Stop motion video for a safer and more inclusive classroom

The 5th grade classes of the 21st Primary School of Athens, working collaboratively in working groups, created short videos using the stop motion technique to answer the following =question: “How do we make our classroom safer and more inclusive?” 10 distinct videos were made by the children with diverse answers ranging from short stories of dealing with bullying, to versions of the tools children had worked on during the Safing workshops (sound meters, team constitution, individual STOP signs to safeguard personal space and boundaries)! Stay tuned for the release of the final, edited video very soon!
